Feature documentary will screen at the 18th Temecula Valley International Film & Music Festival, Temecula, CA
Rancho Mirage, CA – September 15, 2014 – The Caroline Victoria Coldicutt Arts Foundation (CVCAF) today announced its documentary feature film Mary Pickford, The Muse of the Movies has been selected to screen at the 18th Temecula Valley International Film & Music Festival, September 17 – 21, 2014.
“We are so pleased that our foundation’s documentary film Mary Pickford – The Muse of the Movies will be screened at the Digiplex Tower Theatres, Tower Plaza, 27531 Ynez Road, Temecula, CA. Screening times are scheduled on Thursday, September 18th at 5pm and Saturday, September 21st at 11am,” said Elizabeth Wood Coldicutt, president of the CVCAF.
Mary Pickford – The Muse of the Movies traces the life and work of the legendary silent film star, movie pioneer, and keen business woman who co-created United Artists Studios. Pickford’s life (1892 – 1979) also parallels an even larger story, the telling of the “birth of the cinema” itself. Known as “America’s Sweetheart”, Pickford was the first actress to earn one million dollars during a single year, and the only star to ever receive a 50% profit share of her movies.
Through restored vintage audio recordings, Mary Pickford narrates her own story along with actor Michael York. Cameo interviews with Adolph Zukor, famed aviator Amelia Earhart, Douglas Fairbanks, Jr., Buddy Rogers, Lillian Gish and rare home movies give the viewer an in-depth look into the early world of American cinema.
After each festival screening, Nicholas Eliopoulos, the film’s director, will conduct a Q&A to discuss Mary Pickford and the feature documentary. For more information about the film, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com.
The CVCAF will present an awareness booth on Saturday, September 21st in front of the Plaza Theatres, to discuss the arts foundation with festival attendees. The dvd film will be available for purchase, and all sale proceeds will go toward CVCAF outreach programs for art and film students.
About the Caroline Victoria Arts Foundation
The Caroline Victoria Coldicutt Arts Foundation (CVCAF) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit foundation formed in 2006 to commemorate the artistic passion of Caroline Victoria Coldicutt. The CVCAF offers three main initiatives to inform and assist aspiring student artists about how they can implement their creative ideas that can positively impact their families, schools, communities and the world.
Our philanthropic efforts include offering support to young artists through scholarships at various schools in Canada and the United States. Since 2006, our foundation has gifted more than 50 art scholarships to students whose passion is painting and fine arts at these schools:
- Emily Carr University, Vancouver, British Columbia
- Idyllwild Arts Academy, Idyllwild, CA
- Palm Valley School, Rancho Mirage, CA
- Shawnigan Lake School, Vancouver, Island, British Columbia
- The Academy, Palm Desert, CA
- Since 2009, CVCAF has gifted several grants to benefit
students whose passion is filmmaking through the Mary Pickford Institute of Film Education and Mobile Film Classroom.org to provide digital media instruction to under-served youth in Los Angeles County
- To foster cross-cultural awareness and understanding through art, since 2011 the CVCAF has provided funds for art materials and supplies to two schools in China – Guanyindang Primary School in the suburbs of Jingzhou, China and the Dandelion School, a boarding school for children of rural migrant laborers located in Beijing.
The Caroline Victoria Rose for the Arts provides funding of our endowment initiatives as well as provides a lasting reminder of the beauty art brings to the lives of each and every one of us. In 2014, we will introduce our Caroline Victoria Online Arts Festival (CVOAF), an initiative designed for student artists without boundaries.
