CVCAF Announces Two Scholarship Recipients at Emily Carr University Art + Design

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Rancho Mirage, CA – July 21, 2011 – The Caroline Victoria Coldicutt Arts Foundation (CVCAF) today announced that Gina Hetland and Rachel Ozerkevich are the recipients of the Caroline Victoria Arts Scholarship at Emily Carr University of Art + Design, Vancouver, British Columbia.

“We are thrilled that our foundation is honoring these two extraordinary women with a scholarship to pursue their studies at Emily Carr University Art + Design,” said Elizabeth Wood Coldicutt, President of the CVCAF.

Gina Hetland is a student in Communication Design at Emily Carr where she is working on a social media platform for people who are interested in travel, and exchanging travel stories and trip ideas.  She became passionate about creating her social media project after travelling to more than 40 countries with all her belongings packed in two suitcases.  “My goal with learning the skills in Communication Design is to be able to make the world a smaller and more accessible place and more beautiful while I’m at it,” said Gina.

Rachel Ozerkevich is finishing her second year in Emily Carr’s Critical and Cultural Practices program.  In addition to art history and humanities classes, Rachel focuses her art practice on printmaking.  After graduation, she intends to pursue a Masters program in Art History and possibly a PhD.  “Printmaking combines my love of drawing with a challenging and stimulating technical practice, said Rachel.  “My dream would be to teach, research, write and travel.”

About the Caroline Victoria Arts Foundation

The Caroline Victoria Coldicutt Arts Foundation (CVCAF) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit foundation formed in 2006 to commemorate the artistic passion of Caroline Victoria Coldicutt.  The CVCAF offers three main initiatives to inform and assist aspiring student artists about how they can implement their creative ideas that can positively impact their families, schools, communities and the world. Our philanthropic efforts include offering support to young artists through scholarships at various schools in Canada and the United States.  The Caroline Victoria Rose for the Arts provides funding of our endowment initiatives as well as provides a lasting reminder of the beauty art brings to the lives of each and every one of us.  In late 2011, we will introduce our Caroline Victoria Online Arts Festival (CVOAF), an initiative designed for student artists without boundaries.
