Rancho Mirage, CA – July 9, 2015 – The Caroline Victoria Coldicutt Arts Foundation (CVCAF) today announced that its annual Caroline Victoria Coldicutt Art Scholarship will be granted to Maya Adam.
“We are delighted that Maya is the recipient of our CVCAF Art Scholarship this year at Idyllwild Arts Academy. She is a talented visual arts major and so very deserving,” said Elizabeth Wood Coldicutt, president of the CVCAF.
According to Maya, “This scholarship has been an absolute gift and blessing to me and my mother. My mom has currently been working at a part time job, as the school where she was previously working got shut down because of financial reasons. A lot of change and loss has come around our family like the passing of my father, which affected our state of mind and money a lot. Idyllwild Arts has so many great learning opportunities I would not be able to have at a public school. It also has such a happy and motivational environment that I could never get at any other high school. My dream as an artist is to improve my overall techniques from the base of my learning. I have learned the basics of art and want much more than that. I hope to be able to make some profit off of my art work and be more well-known as an artist. My major is visual arts as it has been my passion to draw and paint. Again, thank you so very much for giving me this amazing opportunity. I hope to soak up all of the valuable information and details here at this wonderful academy.”
The CVCAF art scholarship is paid annually from an endowment that was established at Idyllwild Arts Academy in January 2011. The annual scholarship award is based on merit as well as financial need and is in recognition of an Idyllwild Arts student’s outstanding achievement in any creative form – fine art, music, film, photography and dance.
The Idyllwild Arts Academy, Idyllwild, CA provides pre-professional training in the arts and a comprehensive college preparatory curriculum to a diverse student body of 300 gifted young artists from over 40 countries. Idyllwild offers a disciplined college preparatory program for grades 9-12 and post-graduates along with world-class training in creative writing, dance, film & video, interdisciplinary arts, music, theatre and visual art.
The purpose of the CVCAF art award is to inspire students to reach their highest level of achievement in their art discipline and to encourage and support student artists toward their creative endeavors.
About the Caroline Victoria Arts Foundation
The Caroline Victoria Coldicutt Arts Foundation (CVCAF) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization formed in 2006 to commemorate the artistic passion of Caroline Victoria Coldicutt.
The CVCAF offers three initiatives to inform and assist aspiring student artists about how they can implement their creative ideas that can positively impact their families, schools and communities. These initiatives include:
1). Offering financial support to young artists through art scholarships and awards at various schools in the US and Canada. Since 2006, the CVCAF has awarded over 70+ scholarships and awards to students at the following schools:
- Emily Carr University of Art + Design, Vancouver, B.C.;
- Idyllwild Arts Academy, Idyllwild, CA;
- Palm Valley School, Rancho Mirage, CA;
- Shawnigan Lake School, Vancouver Island, B.C.;
- Margaret’s School, Palm Desert, CA; and
- The Academy, Palm Desert, CA.
2). Providing funding for our CVCAF Arts Education Outreach Program which include sponsorship and partnering with numerous schools and organizations such as:
- Aviva High School, Los Angeles – Summer Arts Program (a special education school for abused and neglected adolescent girls);
- College of the Desert, Palm Desert, CA – Fine arts department;
- Creative Visions, Malibu, CA – “Rock Your World” arts education;
- Dandelion School, Beijing, China – Art supplies for rural immigrant children;
- Desert Christian School, Bermuda Dunes, CA – School arts program;
- Diamonds in the Raw, Los Angeles – Film boot camp (for foster care and at-risk teen girls);
- Guanyindang Primary School, Jingzhou, China –Art supplies for children:
- Horrace Mann Middle School, Los Angeles, CA – School arts program;
- John Thomas Dye, Bel Air, CA – School arts program;
- LAA/Pegasus, Palm Desert, CA – Art auction;
- Mary Pickford Film Institute, Los Angeles, CA – Film boot camp for at-risk students;
- Mobil Film Classroom, Los Angeles, CA – Mobile film classroom for at-risk students; and
- Our Father’s Home (Orphanage), Bali, Indonesia – Art supplies and related art material for children.
Funding for our scholarships and arts education outreach are provided through sales of the following CVCAF programs:
– Caroline Victoria Rose for the Arts, our hybrid tea rose, provides a lasting reminder of the beauty art brings to the lives of each and everyone one of us;
– Mary Pickford – The Muse of the Movies, our dvd film documentary, won Best Film in the 2014 Universal Film Festival and a Satellite Award by the International Press Academy in 2009;
– CVCAF Gallery showcases our donated artworks for sale featuring artists such as Alexandre Renoir, Alphonse Mucha, Jean Miro and Marc Chagall.
3). Introducing in late 2015 the Caroline Victoria Online Arts Festival (CVOAF), an initiative designed for student artists without boundaries.
